What you're doing

• You develop and maintain scalable data infrastructures and ETL/ELT pipelines from conception to productive operation.
• You design and optimize data engineering architectures in cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, Databricks) and ensure stability, performance, and security.
• You take responsibility for data quality, data integrity, monitoring and automation through logging, testing, orchestration and CI/CD.
• You work closely with data scientists and consultants to make data usable for analyses and machine learning models.
• You develop APIs and work with modern containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• You design and operate event streaming and messaging solutions (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ) as part of modern data pipelines.
• You work with modern data architectures such as data lakes, delta lakes and data warehouses.
• You manage projects independently and support less experienced colleagues as a technical sparring partner.

What do you bring

• At least 3 years of professional experience as a data engineer or in a related area (e.g. software development with a strong focus on data).
• Very good knowledge of Python and at least one other programming language (e.g. Java, Scala).
• Profound experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data frameworks (e.g. Spark, Databricks).
• Knowledge of containerization, orchestration, DevOps/MLOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Deep knowledge of data modelling, various database systems (relational, key-value, graph, vector databases, object stores) and their areas of application.
• Experience in API development, data quality assurance, and monitoring.
• Knowledge of event streaming and message queues (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Practical experience with databases, data modeling, ETL workflows, and data quality assurance.
• Business fluency in German (at least C1) and good English skills.
• Analytical, pragmatic way of thinking and joy in solving complex problems in a structured way.
